New energy heavy truck sales reached nearly 226,400 units in the first nine months of 2026, up 64% year on year, according to industry data disclosed by China National Heavy Duty Truck Group during an institutional investor briefing on October 29.
September sales reached 33,100 units, an increase of 37% from a year earlier. The share of new energy vehicles in the heavy truck market also reached its highest level of the year in September.

The figures show growth in both the nine-month period and September, although the two growth rates describe different time spans and should not be treated as directly equivalent measures of momentum. The rise in September market penetration also indicates that new energy vehicles accounted for a larger share of heavy truck sales than in any earlier month of the year.
For manufacturers and suppliers, the key question is whether the higher market share can be sustained. Subsequent sales and penetration figures will help show whether September marks a lasting shift in the composition of heavy truck demand.
