On November 1, 2026, GB 46519-2025, the mandatory national standard for energy efficiency limits and grades for electric vehicle supply equipment, takes effect. It establishes mandatory limits for charging efficiency and standby power consumption in off-board conductive charging equipment for the first time.
Under the standard, integrated DC charging equipment must achieve a weighted charging efficiency of at least 96.5% to qualify for grade 1 energy efficiency. That figure is a grade 1 threshold; it should not be treated as the minimum efficiency requirement for every covered device.

For businesses planning or purchasing charging infrastructure for new-energy heavy-duty trucks, the standard brings equipment efficiency and standby consumption into the procurement discussion alongside charging capacity and purchase price. Higher charging efficiency can reduce energy losses during operation, while standby consumption affects energy use when equipment is not actively charging.
The effect on operating costs will depend on the equipment selected and how it is used. The grade 1 threshold provides one point of comparison for integrated DC equipment, but the available information does not establish the costs of compliance or the savings operators might achieve.
